What I liked
My Father was admitted on 25.09.09 to A & E. My mother was with him and was in a&e for 11 hours and we left my father there and left at 10pm. My father was then moved to Wellington ward at some point and I contacted them on Saturday Morning to speak to a Dr concerning my Fathers History as it was vital that they were made aware. The Dr I spoke with was very rude and told me he did not have time for this and he had 100 patients to see and that I was very aggresive. I then asked for his name and he refused, which as a public servant he is not allowed to do. I went up to the ward and spoke with the Sister and the nurse concerning this. It then came to light that the consultant and the nurse was trying to contact my mother regarding my Fathers history, they had the wrong number. My father had an infection and was a little confused and the consulatant needed information regarding my fathers history.
If the Dr had of listened to me in the first place they would have been aware (my Father was in hospital for 4 months previously due to serious illness including Heartfailure). I later found out the Dr's name and myself and my mother asked to see this Dr, of course he never came to see us.The Nurses on this ward were really helpful and very nice and the Sister was lovely. As I stated to the Sister what would have happened if there was an Eemergency, she stated we would have sent the police round to your address! If this ignorant man just had of spared me a few minutes I could have provided the Nurse/Consultant with the relevant information that was vital for them to know. I will be making a formal complaint aboutthis doctor as I think he is in the wrong job. He also went into my Father who is sick and "stated that your wife is aggresive". How dare this rude man even highlight this to my dad. Other than this Dr, Barnet was good, although communication should and could be improved.
What could be improved
The Dr should have took the time to listen, instead of being arrogant and rude. My father is a very sick man, and I appreciate that he is not the only patient in the hospital but I thought I was helping the Dr due to my Fathers confusion.
