This is some feedback that was received by a patient following a recent Recovery event at Rampton Hospital on Chiltern Male PD Day-Care Services Unit during which volunteers from the Rosewood Involvement Centre (The Rosewood Rockers) came to perform some songs.
"I struggle greatly with the concept of Recovery in this environment. I cannot get my head around the aspect that to go backwards enables me to go forwards. The treatment we undertake often focuses on what has happened before and there is little or no mention of the future. The Recovery event on the 24th April was excellent, the reason I say that is because it enabled me to see that Recovery is used outside of the High Secure Services and that for those people that came to visit it has clearly helped them and allowed them to move on from negative stigmas that are surrounded by the label mental health. This has therefore enabled me to spend some time with my named nurse looking further into how Recovery might be possible for me in my bid to "get better".
I would like to thank the visitors for their time and also the Chiltern staff for offering me the time and opportunity to see/experience that in the way they did. Hopefully future (wow I have finally been able to use that word future haha) visits are available to continue to encourage me and my fellow peers. Cheers!
