"i had a phone call to say my nan ..."

About: St Helier Hospital

(as a relative),

Anything else?

i had a phone call to say my nan had become ill in hosp 3 days after having a hip op. i was there within the hour, when i got there i was ignored by the nurses, then grunted at "shes in there". on entering the side room i found my nan deceased in the bed no warning at all. i was distraught!

i found out then she had not had any hydration as she was mixed up with another pat fro nil by mouth, and had contracted mrsa. they were not apologetic and the way i was treated on arrival was disgusting!

Please accept our condolences on the death of your nan. I'm very sorry that you found out in such a distressing way and we are sorry to hear that you thought our nursing staff weren't helpful. This behaviour is certainly unacceptable to us and we would be more than happy to investigate this matter for you.

Please contact the Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) on 020 8296 2508 or email pals@esth.nhs.uk so that we can look into the issues you have raised.
