"Unwell at Legoland"

About: Wexham Park Hospital

My wife was admitted to Accident and Emergency on Sunday afternoon, having been referred from Legoland, Windsor. My wife felt unwell at the park and was firstly seen by the First Aid Team, who sent for paramedics. An ambulance was requested, which brought my wife to Wexham Park Hospital. We were very apprehensive, being visitors to the area and having never experienced the local hospitals before. From arrival to discharge though, we were very pleased and impressed with the service that we received. My wife was promptly booked in at the door and assigned a bed. Following handover, a nurse attended quickly, checking vital signs, going through history, and arranging blood tests and ECG. All staff dealing with my wife were polite and professional, introducing themselves and explaining what was going on. Following transfer to the next stage, we met the doctor who was responsible for my wife's case. Again, they were very thorough and explained what was being done and why. After tests, the doctor explained what they had found and explained the next stage. Eventually, we were moved on to EDDU, while my wife received fluids and was kept under observation. As promised, my wife was re-checked by a doctor after a couple of hours. This doctor summarised the findings and their opinion, which reassured my wife before we were discharged at approx. 11.15pm. When my wife arrived at the hospital, she was feeling very unwell and anxious, as she dreads hospital treatment, having had bad experiences in the past in our local area. We both felt though that the treatment received at Wexham Park had been excellent. Every member of staff we came into contact with was friendly, helpful and professional. My wife felt that her problems had been dealt with very thoroughly, leaving no stone unturned, reassuring her. Would you please pass on our thanks to the team in A and E and the EDDU for looking after my wife so well. If possible, could you please pass on our thanks also to the paramedics and ambulance crew, who were also very kind and reassuring. With grateful thanks

Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback. I am so pleased that both you and your wife felt the experience was reassuring, and the staff were able to deal with her problems thoroughly and kept you both informed. I will pass on your comments to the A&E team who will be delighted to read them. I hope your wife is recovering well Kind Regards Claire Marshall Head of Patient Involvement
