"appalling attitude towards dementia patients"

About: Norfolk & Norwich University Hospital / General medicine

my overall view of the Norfolk and Norwich hospital is poor care, poor communication, no respect, dignity poor. i have been a carer for nearly 9 years in many care settings and the level of care and respect shown to patients in the Brundel ward is disrespectful, uncaring and rude. staff seem to think just because these patients have dementia that they can talk down to them, not show the same level of dignity or respect as any other person would expect. at times it has taken 20 minuets or more for a member of staff to answer a call bell, then they just turn it of and walk away telling the patient to wait. poor communication, information staff to visitors is limited sometimes they don't no how your parent has been or even if they have eaten. poor infection control, i have found soiled pads on beside tables and wet kylies and soiled slings left on chairs

Sorry to read about your experiences of poor care observed on Brundell Ward, Norfolk and Norwich Hospital. We will ensure that your comment is highlighted to PALS at Norfolk and Norwich Hospital where they could respond more directly as, unfortunately this ward and service is not within Norfolk Community Health and Care NHS Trust. Kind regards Christine Little Patient Experience Lead
