I cant fault the care and service that my mother has had at both the Haematology outpatients or on ward 5. However due to appointments being made in the same morning at both Haematology and Orthopaedic outpatients my mother was unable to keep both. As she has been diagnosed with raised white blood cells we, as a family, felt that it was important to keep the Haematology appointment. We attended the Orthopaedic clinic in time for her appointment only to be sent to X-ray.After a wait of over an hour due to lack of staff we attended the appointment on ward5. My husband went to the Orthopaedic clinic to explain and he was told that this was a morning clinic only. After the consultation on Ward 5 we returned to X-ray by which time the Orthopaedic clinic had finished. Upon returning home we called the appointment department and explained the situation. The person that we spoke to was most abrupt and unhelpful. To date my mother has still not received a replacement appointment with the Orthopaedic clinic and, as she is suffering from chronic back pain will need to ask her GP to start the referral process again.
