"New hospital Altrincham"

About: Altrincham General Hospital

Talked to staff about disabled parking when I take my disabled mother to the new hospital for the warfarin clinic on a weekly basis. Was told by people at Trafford that frequent visitors could request a pass for underground disabled parking. I am now told by Altrincham hospital that this is not possible. Will now have to drop my mum off then go to find car parking. She is slightly muddled and sometimes a bit confused so I am worried about leaving her. So probably will now have to ask doctor to arrange a home visit to collect her blood every week. This unfortunately taking away a bit of normality and independence. What a shame that the elderley are deprived of using the new facility. Surely this is discrimination.

Thank you for your comments posted on the NHS Choices and Patient Opinion websites received on 30th April 2015 regarding the information you received in relation to disabled parking at Altrincham Hospital. We are really sorry to learn that you were given incorrect information from Trafford General Hospital regarding the Altrincham Hospital car parking procedure for blue badge holders and the frustration this has caused you.

In response to your comment, we can confirm that car parking is provided for blue badge holders on the lower ground floor of Altrincham Hospital. A space can be booked by phoning reception staff on 0161 413 7700, prior to your appointment. This information is now available on the hospital website, on posters throughout the hospital and will be in patient information leaflets to be published in the near future.

We hope that this information helps you plan your mother’s appointments so that she is able to use the facilities at Altrincham Hospital.
