What could be improved

I was admitted as an emergency, I was staggered by the lack of staff proffesionalism, comments made by staff in hearing of patients which underminded the Ward Mangement and discussing the fact that "they were not fit to be in charge" were just one of them. The attentiveness to patient care was limited.

I witnessed bed pans being left full and in situe by beds and in toilets for over 12 hours. A nurse whose uniforms was grey when it should have been white which was due to her washing machine being broken. This and other examples left me very worried about infection control.

There was only one nurse who displayed all that I would expect from the nursing profession, who sadly only works weekends, the rest should look to her on how to practice and behave.

The food that I was served was disgusting and not fit for human consumption. How the hospital managment could allow such swill to be served beggers belief. A dumpline that was like a rock and white sauce that was grey! All of this led to me just wanting out!

Serious attention needs to be taken with regards to the standards on this ward, I hope that it is an exeption and not a norm for this hospital.

Anything else?

I know that when training to be a nurse on e of the first things taught is confidentiallity and infection control. It used to be that uniforms were not allowed out of the hospital and were washed in the hospital at a high temperature.

Nutrition should also be high on the agenda. I pray to God that I don't ever need to be admitted into this hospital again.
