"Tendon Transfer Hand Operation 18 months on"

About: Poole General Hospital

This is an update to my November 2013 review. The consultant performed the tendon transfer together with a plastic surgeon who was looking to start in orthopaedics. My first impression when my dressings were removed was of the incredible neatness of the stitching; 18 months on they are virtually invisible. After 4 weeks of hand therapy I was able to use the hand relatively well and now I have all but full function. I was lucky enough to meet the consultant several months after the operation and thank them for their good work, reviews of this procedure on the internet mention up to 90% return of function, I have more. Thank you all of the team including the hand therapists.
