"a&he admission with chest pain"

About: East Surrey Hospital

I was admitted with chest pain to the A&E department, I had an ECG then transferred to the Majors unit and put on a cardiac monitor. I was shown by the HCA who my nurse was and their name. The unit was very quiet and the other patient my nurse was caring for was discharged. The nurse did not come to check on me for 1 hour, now considering I was admitted with chest pain and attached to a monitor they did not check on my blood pressure, also they did not check to see if I was still in pain or experiencing further pain. I was not given a call bell so that I could ring if I was experiencing difficulties. The nurse walked pass my bed several times without attending to me and was more interested in going on a break at 6:30 am. the nurse cleaned some beds and removed their gloves then did not wash their hands before coming to me, this I noticed as the sink and the nurses station and bins were directly in front of my bed. In fact not one of the three people, nurse HCA, Dr washed their hands or applied alcohol gel whilst seeing to me. When the nurse did finally come to me they never asked how I was if I had pain and needed for me to advise them that the blood pressure cuff did not work. When doing an ECG they applied the leads to the wrong points this I informed them. I feel as a cardiac nurse myself I did not receive the care I should have, I should not have been left for 1 hour without checking my obs, if I was in further chest pain or any pain for that matter. I could understand if the unit was busy but I was their only patient and I wasn't even given a bell, I was finally offered a drink after 2 hours. I feel totally dissatisfied with my care I was a frightened 51 year old female who presented with crushing chest pain and no previous cardiac history, just to be left sitting on abed with no check except for the admission ECG.
