I spent 10 days in Allerton Ward and it was the worst experience of my life. There was no privacy. The noise and lack of sleep, plus being woken every night at 2am to have TPR and B/P recorded was crazy. I have been a patient several times in the past and was horrified at the difference this time. The food, (cooked chill,) was awful. Breakfast was ok, they can't do much wrong with Weetabix! The soup and roll also ok at lunchtime, but the main hot meal was disgusting, the mashed potato was grey and the vegetables had been boiled to death and were swimming in water, no nutritional value there !! Served up on the plastic container with partitions did nothing to encourage one to look at it never mind eat it. I would not give it to a dog. A patient recovering from Major Surgery needs good food, sleep and rest, they certainly won't get that on Allerton ward. The ward is very cramped and the fabric of the building makes it echo, it is after all just like a porto cabin and the wards in the main hospital are not like this ward.
