"Visit to x-ray department for CT scan"

About: Conquest Hospital

Having visited this department many times in the past, i was very disappointed with my experience last week. I arrived in the department for my CT scan half an hour before my time as i did not want to be late. On arrival i had to drink a large amount of fluid. I have an incurable illness and after an hour had still not been seen and the fluid was giving me a lot of pain in my abdomen. My appointment was at 3.15 and i was finally seen at 4.30pm. I wish that i had been informed of the delay as i would have taken the fluid a bit later. While i was waiting i had to sit and listen to a member of staff, who had the doors open in between patients, making fun of a patient that had been scanned the previous week. It upset me a lot as you expect to be treated with dignity and respect and do not expect that kind of behaviour and i would hate to think of one of my loved ones or myself being spoken about like that. I was eventually scanned at 4.45pm after 2 unsuccessful attempts to find a vein and was in a lot of pain throughout the scan. When it was over, i went to the toilet but even that had a broken seat as one of the screws had come out of the seat. A week later and i am in more pain now than i was before the scan and have now got to wait for weeks to get a result. Not the kind of experience that i want to have again!
