"Colonoscopy"

About: New Cross Hospital

Following an abnormal result from my bowel screening test I had a colonoscopy on Thursday at New Cross. I spent the weeks before imagining all kinds of things, I was so scared, both of the procedure and the result but the staff there were so kind and supportive and the doctor was lovely. I had sedation and there was only one point where it felt a little uncomfortable but it was only for a few seconds and before I knew it, it was all over and the doctor told me straight away that the bowel was clear. I couldn't have asked for better treatment, the doctor and their team were wonderful and I would say to anyone who has to have a colonoscopy at New Cross, don't be afraid, the staff on this unit are beyond compare and the procedure is not at all painful or scary. Afterwards I was given a choice of biscuits or sandwich and a drink and then one of the screening nurses explained everything that had been done. Communication before and after the procedure was excellent, I couldn't have asked for better treatment. Thank you all
