"Outpatient Appointment"

About: Eastbourne District General Hospital

New system for checking in at Main Entrance is unsatisfactory. Despite arriving 30mins early for my appointment there were long queues to check in which resulted in me arriving late on the ward for my appointment. Experienced the same problem again when accompanying an elderly neighbour to her hospital appointment. So much better when check in was at the department you were visiting. Much more efficient. Follow up appointments issued in the post not convenient - difficulty getting through on the phone to change them. So much easier when receptionist in department you were visiting could make a follow up appointment for you at a time convenient for you. Nursing and medical staff terrific - thank you.

Thank you for your feedback regarding our booking in system. This is a new system which we are working on to make it more efficient and satisfactory for our patients, your feedback will help shape these changes. We are aware of the difficulties some patients have had when trying to contact our outpatient booking appointments via the telephone, this is something we are trying to rectify and hopefully our patients have seen some improvement. Thank you for your kind words regarding our nursing and medical staff. Your feedback will be shared with the appropriate managers. May we also let you know that another way patients and families can give feedback is by contacting Healthwatch East Sussex. They are your independent consumer champion for health and social care and would like to hear from people about their experiences of health and social care services. Their role is to make sure your views and feedback are heard and affect the decisions made by the people who deliver your services.
