What I liked

One male midwife who was lovely and cared but he just went at the end of his shift and left my daughter post birth in a mess

What could be improved

My daughter was having her baby. The room was run down and dilapidated. The baby came before they were ready because not enough monitoring was done. They left her in a mess and didn't clean or change her for a couple of hours. So many staff were miserable and unhappy which you don't expect in a maternity unit! This was her first child and I expected much better treatment than being left alone so much. I was the one to tell them the baby's head was coming out and had to stand and be ignored at the midwives station whilst they chatted amongst themselves. Many of the staff in the ward afterwards should find themselves another job as they were so miserable too. All in all I'm glad I had my children elsewhere.

Anything else?

We all have difficulties but some staff in this whole department need to remember the hard time the mums are having too!
