"Cancelled on the day"

7am mum was in mckenzie admissions ward waiting for complex hip replacement, 2pm srtill waiting, turns out they are waiting for a part, mum not eaten since 12midnight night before, 3pm part arrives, wrong part cannot do operation, hope to do within next 2 weeks (preadmission will have expired) . Would you not think that part had been ordered and checked well in advance, well I would, Mum 75 years old got in a right state, couldnt eat or drink until 4pm when operation was cancelled for the second time due to lack of communication between Kings & Orpington
