About: Colchester General Hospital

after a fall onto caravan steps and landing on my back on the step,I was taken to a & e by a wonderful ambulance crew. Left in waiting room for 5 hrs In a lot of pain having spasms, felt anxious until husband arrived as was shaking and making noise at each spasm. Doctor called me eventually made me climb onto high table, painful, pushed my side painful but understood they had to do this but then left to get of table Agony again. Then they gave me pain killers that can be brought over counter and enough diazepam for one day and not the correct strength that they wanted me to have as they had ran out. Once home had to contact my doctor for a perscription for more then day later rang 111 who rang another ambulance as they could hear me having spasms who came and told me to call my doctor and tell them I need stronger pain killers which I got in the form codeine. Pain free at last but what a way to do it, needless pain and needless ambulance visit. Why the hell is a a & e department running out of basic painkillers. Back at work Thursday but still clicking and popping noise and don't feel right but have no faith in NHS so will just get on with it. The NHS is in huge trouble I feel and not providing the service that I as a full time worker pay for. Ambulance crew are the heros in my eyes and the hospital seemed uncaring and very matter of fact.
