"Disappointing"

About: Lincoln County Hospital

My treatment by the doctor I saw was excellent. However my overall impression of A&E was awful. I visited the ladies' toilet, which was disgraceful. Only one toilet could be used. It was dirty, the toilet had been used and wouldn't flush. There was no toilet paper. The receptionist who booked me in is not a people person. I felt like I was bothering them. Their questions were monotone. Of all the staff I saw, either passing me or dealing with people there seemed to be no hurry, any old time would do. We expect poor service, so we get it. Standards were low. When I think about my doctors' practice A&E appear to have it cushy. They weren't busy. Someone needs to be down there grabbing the department and shaking it up. I'm quite sure there are staff there who work hard and care, but some staff were rolling up for work like it was a holiday camp.

Dear Anonymous

I am sorry that you found the toilet in A&E to be not fit for use. The toilets are cleaned during the day and there are notices asking users to let the A&E team know if they toilets are not in a satisfactory condition between the cleaners attending and replenishing them.

Your comments regarding the attitude of staff will be shared with them as this is obviously not the professional image we would like the staff present. It can often be difficult to judge the busyness of the A&E department as the Majors and Resuscitation areas are not visible to patients waiting in the Waiting Room, again my apologies if the reason for your wait was not explained to you.
