"Fobbed off - yet again"

About: Tameside General Hospital

I was referred to Tameside from another hospital after I was lied to (and about). BIGGG mistake - wish I'd stayed under the other hospital. I saw the Surgeon at Tameside last July who arranged for a camera test and an MRI scan. Allegedly these were both normal according to the Dr I saw in clinic after (who wasn't the Consultant). I asked what they were going to do about my hiatus hernia - only to be told I don't have one. I pointed out that I'd been told by two previous Consultants that I do have hiatus hernia, "Well it's not on the report" the doctor says - erm no but any Dr that bothers actually using observation can see it quite plainly. Makes it seem like the doctor's doing me an enormous favour by saying they will see me in 6 months. Was seen yesterday (16/4) in Clinic by the Consultant. Told "Well we've ruled out gallstones so we'll send you to the Pain Clinic for pain management". The consultant might as well have said "It's not what we originally thought so we can't be bothered investigating further to find out what it actually is". I don't want my pain "managing" - I want it sorting, and if Tameside can't/won't sort it they can send me somewhere that can/will. Wish I'd never given this hospital another chance - should have learnt my lesson from previous times here. The only decent Dept in this hospital is the Gynae Dept

We are really sorry you have had to raise these concerns. It is difficult to comment on an individual case without being able to review the medical notes. Please could you contact the Pals & Complaints Department on 0161 922 4466 or email Palsandcomplaints@tgh.uk

’Would you like to help the hospital to improve its services further? We are currently looking for patients and carers to become involved in a development called “Patient Stories”. We want to know more about our services from the point of view of those who received them – what was good, bad, what could be improved, what should be changed. Want to know more about what’s involved? Please contact John Goodenough, Director of Nursing at
