"Appointment system"

About: Sunderland Royal Hospital

I have a back problem for the last 7-8 years. Had been for physio, acupuncture for at least 6 times on different occasions. Been referred to orthopaedic dept via GP. Had an appointment with a Consultant who had been brilliant and really a good professional, they had my X-rays, MRI, Bone scan but without any clear findings. Then they suggested steroid injections in my back and booked me on a sunday. Had my injections on 2nd Nov 2014 and should be two more shots on regular intervals, had a review after two months but that was it, no more appointments, waiting for an appointment since then, didn't hear any news. Looks like staff dealing with appointments has forgotten me completely. I have seen this Consultant has been running the clinics non-stop but the staff isn't interested at all to keep up the pace on which they work, typical laziness. Didn't want to leave a review which may portrait me as impatient but being a professional myself I think I should raise the concerns. Its been 5 months now without any update re: appointment and every single day at work or even at home is like a hell if I don't shove painkillers down my throat.

I'm sorry to hear that you do not appear to have received a further appointment for treatment. Without knowing the full details this is likely to be an oversight (for which I apologise), rather than laziness on the part of staff. Could you please contact the Help and Advice Service in order to provide a little more detail so they can liaise with the relevant team on your behalf to ensure you receive your appointment quickly.

Email: Helpandadviceservice@chsft.nhs.uk

Telephone: 0191 569 9855 or freephone 08005876513

The Help & Advice Service is based near the main lifts on B Floor if you would prefer to speak to someone in person (opening times: Monday – Friday 8 am – 5pm)
