I live in Dunfermline but chose to give birth to my second son in Forth valley royal hospital, I had a scan already booked in Dunfermline but when I informed my midwife I was giving birth in fvrh my scan was cancelled but fvrh booked me one in 2 days.. the antenatal care I was given was amazing!
I had previous spinal surgery and suffered a lot of pain due to this, I seen a consultant (Dr Cope) and she offered me induction at 38 weeks which I accepted, my first Labour was spontaneous so induction was new to me and I was very scared! On the day of induction I was admitted to ward 8 where I was examined straight away and told I was already 3-4cm dilated so I could have my waters broken but needed to wait on a space being available in the Labour ward. At 9. 30pm that night it was my time to go down, the midwife was lovely and stayed with me the whole time and involved my partner as much as possible, when I needed pain relief she was on the ball and had it there for me! After my baby was born he couldn't keep his temperature up and they were in checking him every couple hours, I had a lovely dinner in the Labour ward as well.. the experience I had at forth valley was so different to my first experience at a different hospital and I can't thank everyone enough for making it such a nice experience! If I were to have another baby I'd definitely chose forth valley again.
