"Blood Tests"

About: Russells Hall Hospital

Advised last time I had a blood test to go at 7:00pm as it will be quieter. Turn up at 7:00pm and was turned away due to amount of people waiting. Fairly hacked off please don't publish opening time until 7:30pm as it clearly isn't the case cost me time and money and means I now have to go through the whole process again tomorrow. Never had a bad word to say about this hospital until now but came away annoyed tonight!

Thank you for taking the time to give us feedback about your experience of our blood test services. We are really sorry to hear that you were turned away at 7pm and that this meant you had to make a second visit for your blood test. You are absolutely correct that this should not have happened: the service runs until 7.30pm and so patients should be able to arrive up until that time. We have recently made changes to the way this service works and this could explain why the service was so busy when you visited. As a result of the service change we have seen a higher than expected number of patients accessing the service between 5pm and 7.30pm. To address this issue, we have now increased our staffing in the evenings to help see patients more quickly. We have passed your comments on to the manager for this service who has reinforced this issue with her team. We now have an electronic ticket machine in the department which records the time tickets are taken. This will allow us to monitor blood testing and ensure tickets are available until 7.30pm. We hope that you had a better experience on your second visit and would be glad to receive any further comments you have about the service.
