On Saturday afternoon, my husband visited MIU as he had suffered a partial loss of vision. Following triage, he was seen by a Sister, whose praises we can't sing loudly enough. When an examination of his eye showed no obvious causes for the problem the Sister organised an appointment for the following day at the emergency eye clinic in Swindon, and asked to be kept informed about the diagnosis. When speaking with the Sister after that appointment, I mentioned that we were still concerned about my husband's condition and the Sister suggested making an appointment with our GP as soon as possible. The GP's appointment identified the likely cause of the loss of vision as high cholesterol levels and prescribed statins and aspirin to try to avert any further deterioration of my husband's sight, and the danger of heart attack or strokes. The overall treatment that we received in MIU was efficient and professional, but it was also very understanding and sympathetic. The Sister's continuing interest in my husband's treatment was particularly commendable, being both understanding and practical.
"Excellent MIU and extremely caring staff"
