"A&E"

About: Dewsbury & District Hospital

Recently went into A&E being 20 weeks pregnant and having severe abdominal pains. Worst experience ever! Firstly the receptionist staff were practically non existent, asked for my information to book me in but because of being in so much pain I could barely stand up and the receptionist said 'I need this information otherwise you might as well go home' which i was appalled at , luckily my partner was with me so I could go and sit down! Then i read the times on the board for minor injuries which was 1 hour, 4 hours later I got called in. Still in a lot of pain. When I got to see the nurse, I explained everything and that I was 20 weeks pregnant! The nurse said I needed a blood test which I thought was strange because when would you need my blood to test abdominal pain?! Normally it is a urine test!! So after my 'blood test' I got told to wait in the waiting room again! I had no pain killers and I was very worried about my baby. Then after another 2 hours, I went to see the doctor, who was very nice. Then had a urine test (which I thought they would do earlier) The doctor examined my tummy and explained everything really well and gave me two paracetamol for the pain. My urine test came back and it was all clear and fine. So I told the doctor I had a blood test and even the doctor said I shouldn't have even had one and it was pointless! egghhhh. Then got sent home with no actual diagnosis and still in a lot of pain! I wish I would have traveled further to Pinderfields as the care i got was absolutely poor! I still don't know if my baby is alright. Stressing out. Won't be going up here is a hurry again!
