Having been diagnosed with breast cancer and told I needed surgery was a complete shock to me I was terrified, I had never had an operation before and I was very frightened. I am writing this review to help anyone who finds themselves in this unfortunate position. My surgeon saw me shortly after I was admitted to put me at ease and explain again what they would be doing. I was made very comfortable in the ward and the staff were extremely helpful and very friendly.I had my surgery later in the afternoon, I was surprised when I woke up I didn't even realise it had been done, I was back on the ward before I knew it, I had a comfortable night and I had no pain. In the morning the surgeon came to see me to make sure I was well enough to go home, and I was back home by lunchtime, I was comfortable and apart from taking paracetamol I was fine no pain. My recovery was good and my surgery is excellent. We hear a lot of negative reports about the NHS, but I cannot speak highly enough of the care and treatment I've received and continue to receive. To be told you have breast cancer is a terrible shock, but you will get through it, the surgeons do amazing work, the care you'll receive could not be better. I hope this has helped take some of your fears away, you can do it. Good Luck.
