"Advice"

About: Barnsley Hospital

I needed advice after my granddaughter received treatment in A & E three days before coming to stay with me because her wound was leaking, and rang the switchboard. They tried to connect me to a member of the medical staff but could get no reply. They gave me the direct number for A & E to try myself. Once through (it took ages) I spoke to an individual, explained the situation and was told I needed to travel to the hospital (85 miles away) as they were not medically qualified and could not advise me, nor could they connect me with anyone who was medically qualified. I told them how far away I was. The receptionist said I could leave my number and they would see if there was anyone willing to ring me back but they would 'only say the same thing'. I declined and contacted my local hospital, who happily gave me the needed advice. Poor show Barnsley.
