"I was very impressed with ALL ..."

About: Churchill Hospital

(as the patient),

What I liked

I was very impressed with ALL of the staff at the hospital. As a wheelchair user, there is always the worry of being able to get around or finding someone to help,at the Churchill,my fears were totally unfounded.

Not only were the nursing staff helpfull, they were HAPPY to help.

As for getting around, everyone I came accross asked me if I needed any help, even down to the resterant staff, who were happy to put my meals together and bring them to me at a table that they settled me at.All the service I received by ALL members of staff was second to none...it was a pleasure to stay there, rather than the feeling of isolation that I experience at my local hospital.

Other hospitals would do well by taking a look at the Churchill's manual on how to treat people.

All in all,my stay was clean, comfortable and reassuring.

Top marks to Churchill staff for their friendliness and helpfullness,in my view, they are a credit to the NHS.

What could be improved

Some improvements could be made to the road system around the hospital,as using a wheelchair can be difficult as the roads & pavements are unlevel in places and difficult to negotiate.

Anything else?

The resturant facilities are excellent. The staff are happy and helpfull and the meals are very reasonably priced.(saussage, chips, buttered roll & tea, under £3.00)

They have a good selection of hot meals, soup & deserts with sandwiches, crisps, cakes etc if you prefer. You can also have your meals in a take away container!

The resturant seating area is very clean, with an outdoor section for sunny days.
