About: Medway Maritime Hospital

In short: Called 111 they recommended Medocc and an appointment was made. Symptoms became a lot worse, so I went to a&e (as anyone would do) they did obs and sent me Medocc (what I got cant be too serious then surely?). So I have my appointment with medocc and they said (and I quote) "i don't know why a&e didn't send you to the medical team, you need medical specialists to look at your symptoms and help you. This is not a matter for a gp." So the good Dr sent me around to the hospital with info and was admitted via the a&e. All this up and down took 6 very long hours. I felt like a yo-yo and that the only person who cared was the medocc, as the Dr was the only one to use this flappy bits on the side of heads called ears. My questions are: 1. Why didn't 111 say i needed a&e and possible referral 2. Why didn't a&e admit me first time round 3. Why did i have to waste time and resources with medocc-the appointment i took could have been used for someone else who needed it. Finishing comments: Valuable NHS time and resources were wasted what has taken over 6 hours to do should have only taken up to 1. Its because of poor decision making and a lack of communication there are problems with the NHS. If I gave this kind of service with my employer I'd be sacked. Its not all bad however reception staff at a&e were polite and the medocc Dr was great.
