"Terrific service!"

About: Princess Alexandra Hospital (Harlow)

I took my elderly mother to A&E this morning on the advice of her optician and GP in case she had a detached retina. We were quickly directed by A&E reception to the Eye Unit where she had a scan and a consultation with the eye surgeon who reassured us that there was no problem beyond the normal conditions (such as growing cataracts which will not need attention for two years) associated with someone of her age (89). We could not have been treated with greater speed or courtesy and the whole visit took only an hour. Despite the A&E not having having any appointments available, we were given emergency access and everyone involved was very pleasant. My thanks and compliments for a superb service; we should be more appreciative of a hospital which too often gets undeserved bad press.
