What I liked
Doctor, anesthetist and staff from Heamatology. They actually seemed as though they were concerned with your well being, and importantly had a sense of humour.
What could be improved
Cleanliness. The place was disgusting. No one used the little bottles of hand wash between seeing patients. The toilet/shower room had drops of blood on the floor and 2 "Full" bed pans just left on the chair, I had a blooded bandage left under my bed. The level of service provided by mainly foreign nurses could be improved as could their attitude which was terrible and totally not helpful. In fact I would go as far as saying totally unprofessional. Plus you just get to sleep, and you are woken up at 6am by a nurse wanting to take your blood pressure and temp, very irritating. Also one nurse tried to take a blood sample in the dark at 2.20am with no lights, using the TV for illumination, the guy objected only to be told that she was very experianced and not to worry, after several complaints she got a tourch.why did this happen, because the lights on the beds didnt work. Basically a shambles. I was told this was because it is a surgical ward, general wards are much better.
Anything else?
Also the food, which was good but the service was terrible. One night we didnt get our pudding, the guy just forgot, and the gap between starter and main was 70 minutes. Coffee was hit and miss, there was a lovely lady during the day who was great, but at night the nurses had to do it, which added to their busy schedule (2 nurses for 18 beds) meant we were very low priority. I even offered to help and make myself, but that was rejected with much desgust. Lastly, no one, not even visitors used the hand cleanser to keep hands clean, no wonder MRSA is so wide spread.
