I fell and dislocated & fractured my knee in a fall in Snowdonia. I was taken to A&E in Bangor Hospital. Which was an awful experience. A 5 hour plus wait, in a horrible wooden wheelchair & not advised to lift my leg up. Beyond painful. Utterly horrific, Like something from the dark ages. The staff were ok. Did an xray & sent me to my local hospital. St Mary's London, 5 hours drive away. But I'm so glad they did. Despite the worst pain ever. Apart from sitting in A&E for another 3hrs. They said they'd phone the next morning, which they did. They booked me in for MRI scan the next day. Then booked me in for a knee Arthoscopy. With a consultant, his speciality trauma & Orthapaedics. The consultant and team were fantastic. I was just in for the day & was out that night. They phoned when they said they said they would. I had many follow up appointments. Then they set me up with getting physio. I totally trust this brilliant hospital & there amazing staff. Long may it last. We need to praise the NHS when we can.
