"what an awful day!"

About: Stepping Hill Hospital

my partner was admitted this morning to sssu, I have to say I have never had a bad experience in any part of stepping hill hospital until today! We last saw a doctor on a and e at 9am this morning after which we were taken up to the ward, a staff nurse came and took all the nessacery details etc.. After which I was asked to leave the ward as it was not visiting time! We still had no idea of what the diagnosis or prognosis was or when we were next due to see a doctor! I asked when the doctor was likely to do the ward round to which I was told they had no idea! Upon my return in visiting hours at 3.30 I was told there was still no show from the doctors and was then told that they would be up around 6pm after their clinic! If they knew the doctor was in clinic why could they not tell me that at 11am this morning! I explained I could not physically manage another 2 hour round trip home and back (after being in a and e at 6am)to have to come back again if the doctor failed to show at the given times as again I would be in the hospital out of visiting hours! To which I was told I was welcome to wait for the doctor. Less than an hour later I was again asked to leave the ward by the sister who I explained to that I had been told I could stay and wait for the doctor! They disagreed strongly and asked me to leave! No sooner had I left the ward the doctor arrived and discharged my partner leaving him waiting 45 minutes for me to pick up a phone signal to answer his call to be collected! More to the point I was trying to explain to both the nurses and the sister that my partner suffers with neuro dysfunction and has great trouble with his short term memory which is most of the reason I wanted to be present when a doctor came! As it is now I am left picking up the pieces and trying to make sense of the bits my partner can remember from what he was told! I was far to angry and tired to speak with the staff on the ward on my third return to collect him but this will certainly not be the end of this matter! I am truly disappointed with the staff up on the short stay surgical unit today and now will have to try my best to put together the pieces to ensure the follow up care my partner needs is correct! Thank you nursing staff!
