"Poor midwifery experience at Russells Hall hospital"

About: Russells Hall Hospital

(as the patient),

i was in hospital in october 2006 to be induced to have my baby which was born on 15th october. i have to say some of the staff that were on the night shift were very slow or not doing no work at all,but the worst was when i had my son all though my pregnancy. i had trouble with my pelvis so when i finally went into labour it was more painful i talked to the midwife's on duty saying that i would need to get into positions that would take the pressure off my pelvis and she said she would greatfully help me to do this. But come tea time staff had changed the midwife i had told the other staff about this but when it came to me pushing none of the midwifes i had ever helped me. One even remarked me to hurry up cause she didn't want to miss corrie on the tv (what a cheek!).i was missing it to.

It took me nearly hour an half to push my son out and all the time the staff kept moaning how long i was taking and that some women did it within 10 mins. in the end i snapped at them saying "if you don't like it you know where the door is".

finally at 8:30pm i gave birth to my son but there was more to come - within 15 mins of having my baby staff told my partner that he had to go as visiting times was over. i couldn't belive this he hadn't even got to hold his own son yet. i asked staff if he could stay till 10pm but all i had was firm no's. if i had the stregth i would have walked out there and then with my child.

all i can say about russells hall i don't think much of it i chose that hospital because people had been telling me how good it was but i don't think so. if i ever had another baby i would really consider other hospitals before i even think of russells. my partner also thought this - he even worked on there for 18 months doing the place up. all i can say that they could have spent the money on better things like staff that don't moan all the time.

p.s could someone please tell me why did they put a dog on the grass outside the maternity unit?
