"My care isn't as good"

About: Devon Partnership NHS Trust / Adult mental health

(as the patient),

Ever since being transferred to silverlea from camhs I feel like my care has lessened severely. In camhs I had regular one to one psychotherapy for around a year. Which helped a lot but only started to help manage my problems by a little. Then I was moved to the adult services were I had the initial appointments with the psychiatrist and a care coordinator. Then after that I would see the cc every few weeks, and then the person left. Since then I have been without a care coordinator for around 2-3months. I do see a support worker regularly but for anxiety provoking challenges.

I also suffer from an eating. disorder but as there are no community support and I am to complex for the haldon, I have been left to continue to suffer, its alright saying 'have some food, this is healthy etc' but that doesnt change my psychological feelings of being fat. And waiting list for psychotherapy is ridiculous, I have been waiting since September and will no doubt have to wait for 2yrs until I get an appointment, I cant wait that long continuing to suffer.

Dear 'bluebutterfly'

I'm sorry to hear of your experience of your transition to our service from camhs and the waiting times for psychotherapy and the lack of a care coordinator. We would like to look into this further for you.

Can you contact, in confidence, our patient advice and liaision service either by email dpn-tr.pals@nhs.net or freephone 0800 073 0741. They will be able to help you and look into your concerns in more detail.

Thank you.

Sharon

Dear 'bluebutterfly'

The comments and responses on the web-site of Patient Opinion are shared with us at Healthwatch.

This experience you describe was most disappointing for you and you must be feeling rather let down and anxious. As well as contacting the PALS which deals with complaints - as the trust has suggested -, you might like to tell us more about it.

We are building a picture of the provision of services in Devon and these comments will help the NHS and other providers develop and improve their services.

If you wish to discuss any health or social care issues with us in confidence, including seeking advice or information about services, please call 0800 520 0640, or email info@healthwatchdevon.co.uk or go on-line to www.healthwatchdevon.co.uk.

Yours sincerely
