My dad is currently a patient on the ward 20 a. The nursing care is fantastic. However, a junior doctor spoke to myself and my mum, the doctor quite readily admitted they didn't know my dad and went to read his notes (for all of 2 mins!!). The doctor then came back to say there was a dnr order and that they would not take him to icu if needed. My Dad is 68 years old, he is not ready to give up - of course we have not mentioned this to him. Myself and my mum had no idea this was going to be said and I am absolutely appalled that this decision has been taken out of our hands. I do not accept the order, neither does my mum. My dad is making good progress - does this seem right?? I think not. I will be following up with a letter to whomever is in charge of ward 20 and the chief executive - not happy at all!!
