"Nightingale ward"

About: Chesterfield Royal Hospital

I was emitted into hospital from out of hours and I was first checked in my a lovely nurse, I did not see a doctor until later the next day. I have been in the hospital for 5 days and I decided to discharge myself as I wasn't happy with the way I was treated. . They didn't know the root of the problem therefore they assumed I was faking it . My boyfriend could stay until 8 o'clock (this was fine) but I'd been waited for the doctor since 12 in the afternoon it was now 8 at night he asked the nurse if he could stay, the nurse agreed and said it was fine. Five minutes later the nurse came in shouting he couldn't stay because they had changed their mind. The people in the opposite bed decided to take it into there own hands to start talking about myself to the nurse who wasn't shy to join in. . As they didn't know what I had they told me to "act" fine and wanted to go rid of me as they didn't know the problem I will never go to this hospital ever again, I went in their for help and some nurses were nothing but disrespectful, I have decided to discharge myself as I was that upset with this.

I'm sorry to read your comments about your stay - and I'm particulary concerned that you believed a nurse was talking about you to another patient and that you felt upset. Nightingale is our children's ward so I would not expect a patient to be able to self-discharge. I wonder if you have posted the ward name incorrectly? It would be really good if you could make contact with us, so we can find out more about your care. It looks as though you stayed with us either at the end of March or during April? Would you be able to call our complaints and assistance service so we can talk to you? The number is 01246 512640 and they are open Monday to Friday 9am-4pm. I do hope you feel able to make contact so we can try and help. Kind regards Sarah Turner-Saint, Head of Communications
