"Banal Music"

About: St Mary's Hospital (Newport)

I was an out-patient today in The Endoscopy Department and very much disliked the constant sound of banal, inane pop music on a radio station throughout the department. Why oh why is this on during the whole day? I found it very difficult to read my book during my time at St Mary's and wish I could have had an 'off' button to press!

I was really sorry to hear that the radio in the Endoscopy department distracted you from your reading. Most patients like to hear the radio on, and it seems to help some patients during their procedures and recovery. Having shared your comments with the Endoscopy Sister she has advised that if patients request it they will turn the radio down or off, and she apologises if you felt unable to express your concern at the time.
