"Life is on hold, not sure if operation will go ahead"

About: Royal Bolton Hospital / General surgery

(as the patient),

I saw my Consultant in December and was booked to have an operation on in mid March , the operation date was then changed to mid April and was then changed again to April 2nd ( tomorrow ). At the 11th hour someone has just rung me saying to starve as instructed but the operation may not be going ahead. Life is totally on hold, my husband doesn`t know whether to go into work or not. I don`t know what time they`ll ring me, and they couldn`t tell if or when it would be rebooked if cancelled at the last minute tomorrow. After several months of constant pain and after cancelling Easter because I expected to be recovering from surgery for this to happen, not once but 3 times is too much.

this was only posted on NHS Choices recently, nearly two months after you put it on Patient Opinion, so hopefully you have now had your surgery. We're sorry that you had delays -- we know this can be upsetting, but decisions to postpone are usually because there are more urgent cases.
