"Care for my mother whom has alzheimers"

About: Carrickstone House North Lanarkshire University Hospital Monklands / Trauma & orthopaedics

(as a relative),

My mother was diagnosed many years ago with Alzheimer disease, this not only came as a great shock but has broke my family's hearts.

Myself and my father cared for my mother 24 hr and for 5 years until in September of 2014 she broke her first hip in respite in which she had been there for 1 day. She then done her time in Monklands Ward ten and came home for two days only to break second hip, she was then transferred to Carrickstone Care Home to an NHS out bed.

To my family’s knowledge doctors had changed my mother’s medication but unbeknown to us they had not. We fought for months and finally in January they changed some gradually they then said she was fit to go to full time care in a care home. After this they then decided she was not as meds were wrong and then wanted to transfer my mother to a psychiatric ward in coat hill.

We obviously disagreed as mum was fantastic after new meds and they then told us it was actually NHS not wanting and refusing to pay for one on one care for my mother whilst she was in Carrickstone rehab. My mother has come on leaps and bounds as we live close to her and I go up every day to feed her to make sure she is eating and also help with anything else.

I’m also a carer for my dad who has ailments, if my mum is moved to Coathill I cannot get there as I don't drive to make sure she eats which means she will deteriorate again and lose more weight. I have explained this to the doctors but it falls on deaf ears. The home itself have said they can see a change its one on one at night she needs but again NHS refuse to pay. Doctors have been very rude and vulgar towards myself and father every time we contact them.

We have no one to stand up for us or my mother to be a voice this is worrying as we have seen a lot of patients come in and not be fed. I am there every day and I refuse to let this go on any longer my mother is still a person and she may have alzhiemers but she has feelings also.

I have contacted local MP newspaper, NHS complaints (surprise nothing back) I have contacted doctors won't talk it's disgusting we just want my mum to be assessed for local nursing homes to see if she fits the criteria now that she is calm and on different medication and is improving more and more everyday.

I really am lost and have no idea what to do next but we are taking it as far as we can as people who suffer this horrid disease need help and not to be ignored, NHS are not helping people in need because of money! ! !
