"Day Surgery on Ward E"

About: Ormskirk & District General Hospital

was apprehensive about my admission recently as a day patient to Ward E but I have to say that at 7am on a cold morning I was welcomed warmly and with a friendly smile that began to put my mind at rest. From admission to discharge throughout the day I was kept informed, supported and felt cared for. Nursing staff were busy with lots of people going to theatre but I wasn't left alone and there was someone regularly checking on me throughout the day. The atmosphere in the spotlessly clean ward was relaxed but professional and I found that my concerns and anxieties were quickly addressed. Other members of staff in the theatre reception and recovery departments were similarly attentive and professional in their approach as they supported me on my journey. Most of my time, however, was spent on Ward E and I cannot commend the nursing staff highly enough for their care; they clearly demonstrated that in the NHS it is possible to make you feel like an individual and to provide high levels of care even when it is quite evident that work pressures and demands on time and skills come from so many different directions in any given day. Many thanks, I can't recommend you enough.
