"Excellent care in A&E"

About: Good Hope Hospital

My son has autism and broke his arm at school. We were directed upon arrival at the hospital to the children's A&E department. The waiting area for children is excellent with plenty of toys/books and a dvd playing on the television. We were seen within about 10-15 minutes followed by a visit to the x-ray department. There were no queues and afterwards straight back to A&E for plastering. All the staff were very friendly, polite and informative and couldn't fault anything really. It all took about an hour and a half and the care he received greatly reduced our stress levels. Thank you to all the staff involved.

Dear Olaf Albers

Thank you for your comments regarding your experience at Good Hope Hospital with your son.

I appreciate that having a child with learning difficulties such as autism means that unfamiliar environments can be very unsettling for them. I am very pleased that your son's treatment was speedy and thorough, and that it meant the distress and upset was minimised. Also, thank you for your feedback with regard to the waiting area environment and that you found it well equipped.

I will ensure that your comments are forwarded to the Emergency Department team at Good Hope Hospital who I am sure will be thrilled to receive your feedback.

I sincerely hope that your son continues to recover well.

Once again, thank you for taking the time to post your positive comments.

Kind Regards

Marie Helebert
