"Excellent care for my mother"

About: Tameside General Hospital

My mother was a patient on Ward 41 and the treatment she received from her doctor and their team was excellent. All staff showed her respect and treated her with dignity. Communication was always very good. The atmosphere on the ward was what made her stay outstanding; all patients were treated as individuals and as visitors we were welcomed and supported too. Any queries we had were responded to immediately and if further advice was needed that was obtained quickly. The expertise and knowledge of the staff was always apparent at all levels; my mother's limited mobility was increased amazingly because of the confidence she had in what staff showed and helped her to do independently with their great patience. Equally, we appreciated the time we were given to meet her doctors personally to ask questions and seek reassurance. Written information we requested to learn more about my mother's condition was also left for us as promised and was very valuable. If my mother was to have to return for another hospital stay she would do so without anxiety about the care she would receive.

‘’Would you like to help the hospital to improve its services further? We are currently looking for patients and carers to become involved in a development called “Patient Stories”. We want to know more about our services from the point of view of those who received them – what was good, bad, what could be improved, what should be changed.
