I was interested in the patient who also had a torn meniscus and was treated promptly. I wish I hadn't read this. I am glad this patient was treated so quickly though, but my experience was very different.
I injured my knee seriously last summer which resulted in giving out and severe pain being unable to put weight on it. Went to A&E twice. The second time when this gave out again a week later, resulting in me falling to the ground. Was told "time would tell" whether any damage had been done.
Three months later was eventually given an MRI scan which showed damage to cartilage and a tear of the ACL. I have only just had my operation for the cartilage tear now nearly eight months later and have been told my ACL is not functioning.
I do wonder if it had all been seen to much earlier whether things might have been different. This injury has caused me untold worry and stress as I was and still am unable to walk far. I feel things should have been escalated much earlier. I am very angry that this wasn't done.
I have lost faith in the health service somewhat I'm afraid.
"Unhappy with how knee injury was managed"
