"Had to go private for a simple diagnosis!!"

About: Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust - Queen's Medical Centre Campus

We have been under the doctor and the team of paediatricians for a year,my 5 year old has been coughing and vomiting for years and this year it's gotten so bad she turns blue at night,I have brought a heart monitor I'm that terrified. i told the doctor that I think it's an ent problem the doctor made me feel like an idiot and told me the cough sounds habitual and only asked questions that suggested they suspected a stressful home life.ive now paid privately to see an ent specialist who confirms it's her adenoids and tonsils, her lymph nodes were like marbles and when her tonsils are inflamed (once twice a month)she's breathing through a tiny gap.its taken me 4 weeks to diagnose and get primary treatment in the mean time the doctor is still stuck on a habitual cough and our next appointment isn't for another month.....Very slow considering my child cannot breathe!my opinion was not taken into consideration, and we are still battling to find diagnosis for her other conditions of which I'm getting fobbed off for those too.ill be regularly paying to get a second opinion then filing a complaint with the ombudsman.....being left to suffer with only very baseline tests for a whole year is disgusting!!!!.....on the plus side one doctor in the paediatric surgical team is fantastic and a relief to deal with.
