"rude doctors and nurses at ward 8 heartlands hospital elderly care"

About: Heartlands Hospital / Older people's healthcare

(as a carer),

The doctors and nurses I came into contact with on this ward seem to think that do not need to follow medical guidelines or procedures they are a law onto themselves. My elderly relative was admitted to this ward and put on the Liverpool care pathway without informing the relatives.

The medical staff in this ward do not bother to talk to the relatives and request to talk to the doctors is met with rudeness and obstruction by the nurses who say the doctors are to busy to talk to the relatives. When you ask too many questions they instruct the nursing staff to restrict the patients relatives from coming to see them. My relative went from a independent person who could carry out his daily tasks by himself to someone who required assistance from his family. He has improved since he was released he has become independent again and can look after himself. But some of the effects of what they did not him have not disappeared and there is lasting damage. Everyone we came into contact with in this ward from the consultants, junior ranking doctors and the nurses seem to have contempt for there patients. they do not treat them with dignity and respect there is a lack of patient care.
