"Keen on cleanliness but no attention to details"

About: Manchester Royal Infirmary

In hospital for 2 weeks. Staff was very keen on cleanliness. Some staff was friendly and caring, especially the health workers. Nursing staff work was below standard, did not check if patient ate or drank. There was a lack of communication between various departments regarding existing medical conditions. The physiotherapy was good and the staff was helpful and caring.

We were sorry to learn that you found the nursing care was below the standard you would expect, during your stay at the Manchester Royal Infirmary.

We expect all nursing staff to be aware and monitor each patients’ dietary and fluid intake, to ensure they are well nourished and hydrated and we are sorry that this was not your experience.

We were pleased that you found other areas of care were of a higher standard as we are always grateful for feedback about our staff and our services.

It is important to us that comments are heard and seen as an opportunity provided to the service to make changes and improvements wherever possible. In response to your comments please accept our assurance that the issues you have raised will be highlighted to staff concerned.

If you would like to discuss your observations with us in more detail please contact our Patient Advice and Liaison Services on 0161 276 8686 or by emailing pals@cmft.nhs.uk
