"Coping with an MRI Scan"

About: Royal Alexandra Hospital / Trauma & orthopaedics (wards 21-23)

(as the patient),

I had to attend for a MRI scan of my back & pelvis. I was very nervous beforehand as l don't like confined spaces. I don't like using lifts. So l was dreading the scan. I took my own cd to listen to.

I was met by the person doing the scan, who put me at ease & made me feel l could cope with the scan. She was lovely & so kind.

I managed the scan & l admit l did open my eyes a few times to look. Then l shut them again. I was reassured thoughout l was doing well & was l ok. The machine is noisy & yes you do hear it over the music.

I was just glad to get the scan over with. Thank you to the lady who kept me calm throughout. She really was lovely & so reassuring to have someone who understood how l felt.

The MRI scan can be noisy! Here are some videos for those reading this post but who haven't experienced it.

I think this is the second time we've had positive comments about the staff at RAH MRI posted on PO?. There were similar comments posted recently as well.
