My wife gave birth at the Royal Oldham at around 7.30pm on the 16th March 2015. We first visited on the 14th when her waters broke after a phone call to the midwife. We were shown to a room in the birthing centre and seen pretty much straight away. The midwife was great and took great care of us. The new facility is such an improvement on the old place and immediately makes you feel more relaxed. Unfortunately for us nothing happened for 24 hours and my wife had to be induced. Again, the quality of care was first class. The nurses were attentive, explained what would happen and ensured that both mum and baby were monitored regularly. In the end we were moved to the labour ward which was just as comfortable and clean as the rooms in the birthing centre if a little more clinical. The midwife here (who delivered baby) and the student they had with them were amazing. They really knew their job inside out and obviously loved what they did. It really does make a difference. Overall the quality of care was excellent, the staff were amazing and the new facility fantastic.
"Great facility, fantastic staff, quality care."
