After hoping for a good new year, January brought the worst news for our family when my husband was told that he had cancer. We were treated with wonderful compassion by all the staff we came into contact with. From A&E James Mckensie ward, Orsett Ward and Edith Cavell and the three times he was admitted to AMU while waiting for a bed. The doctors, nurses, students, health care assistants and ward domestic teams have all been excellent. The porters and radiology department staff all such a good team. Now he is in the care of the Haematology team who are second to none. Our experience at Basildon Hospital has been 1st class. In days of NHS bashing by the media,we want to say thank you to everyone involved in his care and also to say we could not have been treated any better if we were Royalty. The wonderful work that the Haematology day unit staff is amazing, they have a heavy workload and work in the most cramped inadequate facilities, something that in our opinion should be seen as a priority to give them them more space at Basildon and certainly not relocated to another hospital.
"Wonderful care at Basildon Hospital."
