"Negative experience of maternity care at BDGH"

I had a pregnancy that wasnt without problems. I had several bleeds and always sought help and advice from my community midwife or the hospital. I had spotting at 24 weeks and went to hospital for a check up. They said that I was fine but I had a urine infection (the 3rd during my pregnancy). 10 days later I had more spotting and contractions. I rang the labour ward and my midwife. Both said that it was braxton hicks and that I neednt bother going to hospital.

The day after I went to hospital as felt I should because I was still spotting and getting contractions. They gave me an anti D injection internally examined me and discharged me as there was no dilation. I had yet another infection and was discharged with antibiotics. 12 hours later I was fully dilated and practically giving birth when I arrived by ambulance.

My baby was delivered at 27 weeks weighing just 2lb 5oz. After the birth it wasnt any better. The midwife took my anti-biotics off me and said that because I'd given birth I didnt need them. 5 days later they had to give me another course as I still had the original infection which hadnt been treated.
